Kansas City Ballet will celebrate 50 years of producing incredible ballet performances in the Midwest with a glittering event, “The Golden Gala,” on Saturday, March 1st, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. in the InterContinental Hotel on the Country Club Plaza. In an unusual coup of programming, Boulevard Big Band and Boulevard Band will both be on hand for a glorious evening of non-stop dancing in honor of the company’s 50th anniversary. Chaired by Mrs. John D. Hickok, Jr. (Lisa), whose long standing commitment to Kansas City Ballet has taken her from student to company member to board member to Director of Marketing and now to Golden Gala Chair, the evening will be the premier cultural event of 2008 with dance lovers attending from all over the world. In addition, it will be an opportunity for patrons old and new to reconnect and celebrate with Kansas City Ballet. Mrs. Hickok will be joined by Mrs. Clifford Illig (Bonne) as Honorary Chair. Bonne and her husband Cliff have been long-time supporters of Kansas City Ballet and in all their years in Kansas City have missed only one Ballet Ball. The Ballet Ball is known for its great party and incredible dining. This will certainly be the party of the year as the entire community comes out to celebrate with Kansas City Ballet. Seating for the Gala will be limited so be sure to make reservations early. Click here to email a request for an invitation. Tickets for the Golden Gala start at $250. Benefactor Levels ($1,000 and over) will be given a copy of the 50th anniversary coffee table book in recognition of their support. Levels of $10,000 and more will receive an invitation for two to a candlelight dinner at Indian Hills Country Club hosted by Julia Irene Kauffman, tickets to Romeo & Juliet and more.
